noisy bathroom fan

hi, i'm a SWF living in a condo. as of late my condo's bathroom fan is making alot of noise. we had our building's ducts cleaned recently so i'm not sure if the fan simply needs replacing or is it something bigger....balancing of blades? build-up over the years?? my building is 18+yrs and i would think it's the original fan.

i haven't taken a look yet, but am wondering what i should be looking for to determine what needs to be done.

any help is appreciated !!!
cheers.

Is there a metal or plastic grille below fan at ceiling?
If so--take it off & turn fan on--let us know what happens
or see if you can push against grille ( broom handle ) while it is running-see if noise stops.

thanks for your reply.

there is no grille. this is a fan/ heat lamp combination. so i've taken the lamp off which exposed the fan assembly.

i've taken a look and it was a bit dusty so i've been trying to get the dust off of the small blades....not sure if it's helping any as the noise does not seem quieter.

help!

Hi GG,

Charming as jhoward is, he's not going to fix your fan ...why don't you ask the mod to delete your post and try it over in the electrical forum?
