What to do first

Hi,

I am remodeling my kitchen. I am pretty much done with the demolition and just about to start the construction. My current question is: is there a preference when it comes to putting the floor down or putting the drywall up first? Part of me would like to get the floor down first and go from there, but I also see advantages with waiting and doing the floor last. Any feedback would be great.

thanks!

I would definitely do the drywall first, and have it finished and maybe even painted before you do the floor. If you do the floor first, you would need to get a bunch of 1/8" masonite and cover your new floor, taping the seams to keep out all the nasty drywall dust (which is an abrasive, by the way).

What kind of floor are you getting?

good point, I wasn't really considering the dust, i was just focused on the paint... I'm doing a tile floor so cleaning the dust out of the cracks would be a pain/impossible. I'll stick to the original plan of drywall first.
