New kitchen cabinets/hvac vent

I am remodeling my kitchen. I have a HVAC vent on the wall where I am going to install my cabinets. The vent starts at the floor and goes up a few inches.....a standard HVAC vent. What are my options at this point? What is most common thing to do when you want to put a cabinet infront of a HVAC vent? Thanks for your help!

I've been on lots of jobs that cut a hole in the kick board to let the vent exhaust into the room. My kitchen vent is done that way. What I did was to take a couple of 1xs and a piece of plywood to direct the air flow to the register in the kick board. It will work either way but I figured channeling the air flow would be a little more efficient.

Vent

What Mark said and also make sure the back of the cabinet is open at the bottom to allow the air to out of the vent.
