Grout Sealer Necessary?

I'm about to grout a new shower and was wondering if I should add sealer to the grout before application, or whether sealing the grout is even necessary to begin with. Tile is porcelain glazed ceramic and I will be using sanded grout.

You can't do that. I'm sure you don't mean to add sealer, you probably mean whether to mix the grout with an additive or just water? Right? Most grouts today have the polymer or latex in it already. Just add water. There is a product that can be added, (even to polymer grouts), that claims improved performance. There are limitations and many problems reported.

I recommend you seal the grout after it cures using a good quality penetrating sealer.

Yes, I meant add an additive to the grout. However, I just realized the grout I selected is a polymer grout, so at this point I don't plan on doing anything but grouting.
