Double Door refrigetor too big for space

My sister moved into new apt. Her double door refrigerator is such a tight squeeze between wall and the adjacent stove that the fridge has to pulled out 1" into the kitchen to be able to open the freezer door on that side next. That freezer door side is next to a door opening from the hallway into the kitchen. Can she have the door trim or casing removed permanently, to allow for more space?

Unless she got permission in writing from the landlord, I wouldn't alter anything, but it may work. You may can get a piece of matching molding at a big box store (probably WM366 or 356), cut it down on the wide edge to where the fridge would fit and open properly, paint it up nice and pull the old one off and replace it with your new one. Save the old one for when she moves out. Tell the landlord of your plans.
Brian, it's not the counter, but the door case molding.

One inch into the kitchen doesn't seem like a big deal.
