antique gas kitchen stove
I recently purchased a house built in 1929. In the basement, plumbed in and functional is what I believe to be the original kitchen stove. I want to move it upstairs into the remodeled kitchen. My question is should I install some sort of heat shield behind it? The walls were originally plaster and lath which I replaced with drywall. I'd appreciate any help on this conundrum.

This old stove would more than likely have leaks on all the valves.
You really need to have a licensed gas fitter familiar with these appliances give it a good going over first to see if it would be safe to use.
Besides, you need a permit to make changes to your gas lines and someone would be responsible to make sure the stove is safe anyway.
