back splash tiling ?

i am wanting to put subway tiles on my back splash. just a basic brick type pattern.

how should i center the tiles between a window and the corners ?
as in. full tile on the window side and let them fall where they may on the corner side = half/quarter/third/whatever, tile to the corner.
or center them in the space, and have partial tiles on each end ?

also. the electrical boxs. i know i should get extensions. but i found that unscrewing the switches/outlets them come out far enough that i can fit the tiles behind them. i prefer this, as putting in the extensions will and a bunch of work.

and going up to the bottom of the cabinets. i know the correct way would be to pull the cabinets. cut reliefs, tile and hang the cabinets.
but this would be a lots more work.
or. cutting the tiles to fit up to the cabinets. again, a lot more work.
but i am thinking. that because the area is not really seen i could go up close to, but not flush with the cabinets, about half a tile. and leave a little of the wall exposed. ?

the above range microwave. i can go up to it. but should i stay down from it a little ?

thanx guys.

Not sure about the type of adhesive, but if its ceramic tile adhesive it should be fine. Lay the tiles out first to see how everything is going to fall. You don't want tiny cuts around the window if you can help it, nor do you want tiny cuts in either corner. Around the window is more important/noticeable, so do what looks best and let everything fall is it will.

thanx.

most of the tiles are up.

i went all the way to the bottom of the cabinets, and only had to trim a little piece of a cabinet to make things look nicer. on the left side of the sink, to go all the way up to the cabinet, i would have had to put splinter tiles at the top. so i just left it. look ok. i am not done with the right side of the sink/window, so idk how those are going to fall.

i started with full tile at each side of the window. as was said, this is most noticeable. the corners fell ok, and are not much seen anyway. so = good enough.

this mastic stuff is nice to work with.

i am not done yet and then grout. but i think it looks pretty darned nice. should have done it years ago. its kinda funny how just one improvement can make all the other stuff look better.

ok, its done, maybe.

1 issue. on the left side. i would have had to put slivers to go to the cabinet. when grouting, i did not fill this area. the wallboard can be seen, and looks ok.
should i have filled this with grout ? it goes from 1/2" down to 1/8" in about 30"s

i am not going to 1/4 round it.

this pics shows the correct coloring of things. the 1st 2 pics are an orangy color.

2nd issue. see the wall too the left. you know how many folks have that area tiled. i am thinking it would look good to have that done. but i cannot get short side rounded end tiles (only long side rounded)

I don't think I'd push it. It looks superb as it is. Also, quarter round will "bulk" it up too much. Don't, unless you absolutely feel you have to, or you have a power higher than you calling the shots

If you are worried about the line under the cabinets, take a count of the number of people who will actually be looking under there, and divide by zero. Again, adding anything to it will bulk it up too much. What was your square footage? Looks to be about 16" x ?.
