2 sinks or one

2 sinks or one
[FONT="Tahoma"][COLOR="purple"][B]Our master bathroom counter is 57 inches and has 2 sinks. For resale, will one sink work? We have never used the two sinks at once, not even after 13 years. We want to put in a stone counter and one sink Any ideas?

Now, I'm just the opposite of Mike. Women like LZ's for their stuff. More sinks, less LZ space. My wife has "stuff" .... a lot of stuff. I use the other bathroom. Hers is 5' long with one sink, and still starved for space.
HOWEVER, with that said, it is what you see that sells you on a house, not practicality.

Yes chandler but its like a shed. Buy a small shed and its crammed. You always say I need a bigger shed. Buy a bigger shed you aquire more stuff, and the same thing happens. Give the wife two much room for her stuff and you will end up living in the shed...LOL.
You know what I mean?

This is why when I redo our bathroom, come hell or high water, I am figuring out a way to put in separate vanities, as far apart as they can get.
Seriously though, realtors love to see dual sinks. When showing a house all that stuff has to be put away to make the counters look bigger anyway (the other realtor mantra "de-clutter!").

The vanity in our master bath belongs to my wife. Like Chandler's wife, she has stuff. Lots of stuff. Except for rare emergencies I use the "guest" bathroom. I'm in the middle of redoing our third bathroom and it's gonna' be mine. No tub but a big shower. I'm putting in a 36" vanity becasue I don't have lots of bathroom stuff.
As for the two sink vanity dilemma, I would check with a realtor but for me a 60" stone topped single bowl vanity would trump a two bowl with a lesser top.

Are you selling or just remodelling for yourself?
If the latter, go with one sink, as you apparently have no need of the second one.

Mcallums, welcome to the forums! The OP is talking about a bathroom, not a kitchen, and the pendulum can swing both ways to personal preference or saleability of the house. But I do agree with you that one sink is enough in a kitchen. Although small bar type sinks make great prep area additions.
