Finding a kitchen sink to fit a 24" base cabinet

Short question: If a sink specs state: Length: 25", Width: 22", is this referring to the rim of the sink, or of the basin?

Long question: Our kitchen remodel will include a 24" base cabinet for the sink. This was the only one we could fit into the plan for a number of reasons. Now that the cabinets are ordered, I am finding out how difficult it is to find a sink that fits and matches all of our requirements/wishes. Judging by the photo of this sink (link), it should do the trick. It looks like the basin has at least an inch of clearance on either side, relative to the rim. If that's the case (the basin is 23" or less wide) then I would think fitting it inside a 24" base should work.

Any experienced feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I just realized that I failed to take into account the thickness of the cabinet sides! My cabinet will have 3/4" plywood sides, so my inside sink clearance will actually be about 22.5". Maybe I'll just call Lowes and ask what the exterior basin dimensions are. I would still appreciate any feedback/suggestions relevant to this question. Thanks.

Hi.

What you need is a bar sink. Below is just a example.

You could mount the faucet on the deck with those types . They do have them that mount on the sink also as in the link. You just need to look around.

Do a search of bar sinks.

Hey Mike, thanks for the reply. I think the bar sinks are too small for us -- we would like to get the biggest sink we can get that will fit a 24" base. But your link was still very helpful -- I found another sink at Kithcensource that I think will work for us. This site is much better than Lowes -- they include detailed specs. I found one that will definitely fit our cabinet. Thanks again.

OK.

Yeah any sink 24" and below is really considered a aux. sink or bar sink. Its not the norm for typical household use.
