I am remodeling and increasing the master bath. I like the looks of tile showers/baths. I have contractors experience in tile laying. Is there a way to make your own tile tub enclosure? What is the current prefered method of "pans" for tile based showers? I prefer to have high end products rather than the cheaper/ I did it myself brands, however, our experience with showers shows that they do not last over time. 15 years seems to be the maximum usage we can get. We want a do it once, never again installation.
I am trying to avoid the "white tub" with a shower look.
I would like to do the designer tub/shower combination, with a stepped soaking tub.
Any ideas?

A good tile supply outlet will have a shower pan material that looks like rubber I have used it for severl years now and have not one problem...It is instaled like you would rap a xmas package only on the inside you do not cut it below the top of the tub you fold all the corners in and glue them with the bonder that comes with the material.
