Bathtub platform

Can I put the platform for a drop-in tub under the floor (in the basement) so the top of the tub is flush with the bathroom floor?

Sure anything can be done.

How would you get in and out? What would be the benefit?

Most floor level tub/spas have some type of step to get out.

I would have to check the code on that one. Children can fall in and drown?????

The idea is...I don't have alot of space, the new bathroom is 75 sq ft but in an L shape...so...I definately want to do a large walk-in shower, I was thinking I can go a little larger (6 1/2 x 5) is the biggest I can do...and put a sunken tub in the back (60x32) - but deep. I don't know what the issues would be, but definately small children could be a problem, unless I framed it under the floor but built a partial wall in front of it. Just trying to come up with an idea that would accomodate both a walk-in and tub in the space I have.

Do you really need a tub in this bath?

As Mike said getting in an out of a sunken tub can be a pain. With kids around I would worry about one falling into an empty tub and breaking their neck.

How will the tub at floor level save any space?
