Adhesive for glass subway tiles

Hello,
I am installing glass subway tiles for my new backsplash over existing tiles. I was going to use mastic or pre-mixed thinset but the tile guy was pushing ProFlex Platnum (which is not premixed).

I know there are plenty of opinions out there about mastic vs. thinset but didn't see anything specific to glass tile. The tile guy said this Proflex is needed because the tile is glass and it has a special additive.

I would rather use a pre-mixed adhesive, however, will mix if necessary. More importantly, I want to make sure the tile guys recommendation isn't simply an up-sell.

Thanks for your help,
Todd

Mastic or anything premixed in a bucket is the wrong thing to use for glass. You need a highly modified thinset for the glass tile. Most glass manufacturers have specific thinsets that they recommend for their glass. Check out the manufacturers website to see what they recommend. There are modified thinsets that are specifically made to set glass tile. Any of them would be a good choice. Read the manufacturers instructions on setting glass tile. Its different than setting regular ceramic tile.
