Soffit with ductwork removal..

Not planning on starting this any time soon, but I figured I'd get started on small things. My kitchen has a soffit above one side of cabinets, and in there there's a duct that comes out for an air return (I'm guessing?).

What is the effort required to remove the soffit (I want to replace cabinets with full top to bottom ones) and fix the ductwork? Any examples you can link would be great as well..

Removing the soffit is usually a piece of cake. It's dealing with what's inside it that'e the PITA, and you won't know the answer to that until you open it.

Can you post some pictures of what you have? See How To Put Pictures In Your Post.

Be careful, there could be wiring or plumbing in there as well.

I'd punch a couple small holes first so you can see what's in there.
