Where to place drop in sink of vanity top?

I am having a granite countertop done for a 48" vanity, thus I ordered a 49" top because it will be sitting up against a wall on the right. My question is should the sink be centered on the vanity top or on the vanity. If the vanity top it would be 24.5" from the right side, if centered on the vanity itself it would be only 24". I know it's only 1/2" difference but I'm wondering what standard practice is. Thanks in advance.

Not sure but I did something similar in my bathroom only I bought a premade countertop with sink bowl, so mine is centered on the coutertop, not the vanity. I would think the majority of people would look at it from the top rather than the front so my thought would be to center it on the countertop.

Lining up the sink

I would probably consider the front of vanity as the middle. Generally the sink lines up with the center of the vanity, like the center of two doors.

I'm not as firm on my answer as I was initially - there's no real frame of reference on the top where the center is but something like doors in the center of the vanity would definitely reveal if the sink was not lined up with them.

I'd center the sink on the vanity, not on the granite.

X knows what he's talking about, center it on the vanity.

Have to agree with my bros. Everything is centered on the vanity, even the mirror and light fixture, so I would center the sink on the vanity, too.

Thanks for all the info, guys. Unfortunately, my granite fabricator just called today and said they went ahead and did it already without my answer... and they centered the sink on the vanity top . Honestly, I think I'll just shim the vanity out 1/2" from the wall so that everything lines up. I just looked at the vanity in my bathroom upstairs and it looks like that's what they did when they built the house, so it should be ok. Thanks so much for all the advice though!
