Pre drilled holes in marble counter too small

I bought a vanity with a marble countertop for my bathroom remodel.

When installing my faucet and sink handles the faucet went in easily but the hot and cold handles are a hair too big for the pre drilled holes.

Is it possible to use a file to widen the holes? Im a bit scared to crack the marble.

I saw this on line. Would this work?

I would ask the people where you bought it if they can enlarge the holes.

did you get an answer on your problem?

I have the same problem with my marble counter. I need the hole to be just 1/8 inch larger. Did the file work or did you try something else?

Thanks

How's a flat file going to open up a round hole?

When purchasing a stone counter top you should provide the stone mason a template of the faucet or accurate dimensions. You should not tell them to use "standard" dimensions.

I think the file should work fine. I can't tell if its half round or flat from the pic. You could get a Dremel tool with diamond sanding mandrel.

Drill a correct size hole in a 2x4. Clamp the 2X4 to the counter top centered over the hole. Use a diamond hole saw the correct size to re-drill the hole.
