Your link goes to an image of a flush-mount medicine cabinet. What is your question about the paint?

How do you remove what paint? You said you have a surface-mounted cabinet. Those hang on the face of the wall. The paint is behind them.

A flush-mounted cabinet may have a bead of caulk around it which can be cut with a utility knife.

Perhaps a pic or two will clear things up - http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html

As stated above a utility knife can be used to break any bond[or caulking] the cabinet may have with the wall.
