When we bought this house, it came with a partial shower stall in the basement. Well, at least what used to be a shower stall. The square in the floor is 32in by 32in. The toilet sets 3 bricks to the left of the square, and there is a wall that is 4 bricks to the right of the square.

I'm wanting to do something on a limited budget. I'm thinking maybe just a shower base. My father-in-law thinks I should break out the groute that is in the square from the old shower and then just hang a curtain.

What's everyone's opinion here?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

What you do with the shower would depend on what your plans are for the rest of the basement.

A shower basin would be a start. I'm guessing that floor drain has a trap under it.

Not really looking to do much with that part of the basement. It's in the unfinished area. We do have a treadmill down stairs. I was thinking of making it so that I could just take a shower downstairs after walking on the treadmill. But also during home college football games, a buddy of mine and his wife stay in our basement before or after the game. So, thinking of something a little convenient for them also, since there already is a crapper in that part of the basement.

I was thinking at least a basin, and then my father-in-law suggest a curtain that hangs from the ceiling...

A shower curtain would probably be a good idea. Many people don't like to shower "al fresco"
