I am beginning a rehab on an old house. The current bathroom is very narrow. Current tub is a claw-foot and it constricts the door way. I have 22 inches from wall corner to doorway for a new tub or shower. The length is not an issue. I also cannot change any room dimensions by moving walls.Any suggestions on updating this bath?

Is a walk-in shower an option? Have you done a search for special size bathtubs?

I looked at walk-in showers as an option also. the smallest was 30 in square. This was at Lowe's and they went thru their books and the smallest they could find was 24inches. It was also suggested to me that I could build a box and tile up my own shower. This house just doesn't have the profit margin in it to justify anything fancy.

You might want to post a question for John Bridge over in the tile forum, and he can tell you what is possible for shower widths, and has web pages that describe building your own.
