Size and purpose of the mirror in the bathroom
Hi,
We are talking complete bathroom remodel, if it matters.
I am trying to get opinions/suggestions for the size and placement of the second or secondary mirror.
I have about 36" wide 72" tall wall space between the (future) glass shower enclosure and the adjacent wall. This space is directly under 12" tubular skylight and two (can-like) light fixtures.
Trying to decide what mirror to place in that space.
Originally was planning on full size top to bottom 36" mirror to capitalize on the reflection from the skylight and to "expand" the bathroom a bit. I was going to have a small rough iron legged table under the mirror, to maybe place some bath towels on or something decorative.
Made a mistake of going to Home Depot and picking up a 20"x30" "glass back" mirror to see how it looks in that spot and it looks pretty good and a little less "clinical" than full size mirror would.
To make the situation even worse, I got an LED "bug", was going to run an LED strip alongside of the full size mirror to have it reflect through the mirror's glass. Now, with the smaller "glass" mirror, i can put the LED strip on the back of the non-glass portion and have the mirror back-lit from behind.
Crazy, I know, but I can't help it

Pulpo,
I appreciate the sarcasm, more than you can imagine. Was hoping it would be clear from the get-go "I am trying to get opinions/suggestions for the size and placement of the second or secondary mirror."
If I was a little vague, here is the question;
Is it better in my situation (no reason to repeat the story?), a full height/width mirror or a smaller size mirror?

That wasn't sarcasm. I really didn't understand the question. My decisions are usually based on practicality not on aesthetics. To me, full length is the way to go. You might want to post your question in an interior design forum & maybe post some pics.

Need other details like size of the room, the placement of other items (shower, tub, toilet, vanity, cabinets, towel rods, etc.).
If the room is small, then storage might take priority over more reflective surfaces, which in turn can be made up with brighter color and fewer trim elements. If the room is big, then the mirror is not needed to make the room "seem" bigger.
Maybe more details about the room itself would be in order.

What do you mean by second or secondary mirror? So there'll be 2 mirrors in there?
Might be a good idea to wait till the bathroom's finished, then post some pics (not clear on if it's finished yet or not).
Hard to answer without seeing anything, or providing any details.

Room is not finished yet
there is the light at the end though.
The room itself is 6'x12'. I prefer not to have any furniture in the "skylight corner", with the exception of maybe a small rough iron little table.
There will be a 24"x30" mirror above the vanity directly across the proposed location of the "secondary" mirror.

More pictures to come when i progress further with the vanity.

Asking strangers to make design decisions for you is like going to the casino and dumping $$$ into the slots--you can hope for rewarding results, but that's not very likely to happen.
None of us knows your likes and dislikes, what styles appeal to you, etc. Only you can make such decisions. And that's not sarcasm, either.

I'm not understanding why you need 2 mirrors. Think it might look a little odd. I think a nice picture would look better. But that's just my 2cents.
I agree with bridgeman tho. Go to Barnes and Noble and look thru some bath design magazines or books. Also you can search thru Houzz or BHG for ideas.

If the two mirrors are a little offset from each other, I would put spacers on the far side of the secondary mirror so the person's image can be seen in both mirrors, front and back. I have a small one in my rental cabin and it allows women to see their hair do from front and back without having to get a hand held mirror. A fuller length mirror at a slight angle may accomplish the same thing, if that is what you are wanting.

Yes Larry,
That's exactly what my wife "requested", becasue the old bathroom had mirrors on all three sides of the vanity and it was convenient to see that way. Having that second mirror will also allow some additional light diffusion from the skylight. I/we just need to decide if we want the full length or a "regular" size on that greenboard wall. I realize nobody can decide it for us, just wanted some opinions. Thank you for yours
