Repairing and repainting Plywood bedroom furniture

I have to repair and repaint my 10 years old bedroom furniture
Have to completely change the color of the furniture.

Need to know what kind of material is this?
how it can be repaired?
and then how to give it a new color?

Attached are the picture; any help will be appreciated

Welcome to the forums!

I'd sand the pieces with 120 grit, use a wood filler on the voids, sand as needed and prime it all with a pigmented shellac like Zinnser's BIN. You can use your choice of paint for the top coats but I'd be leery that failure to use the right primer would result in peeling paint.

The 1st pic resembled formica which doesn't paint all that well but the bottom pics look more like a cheap laminate that has a glorified contact paper type finish. The latter would paint better. Removing the veneer would be a good option except you don't really know what's underneath it.
