Refinishing laminate countertops
Hello, I hope this is in the right forum.
My house is for sale and the kitchen needs a facelift as of now. I've been looking into Rustoleum Countertop Transformations and I'm wondering if it could be used over a laminate countertop that has been painted before. It was painted by the previous owners (10 years ago maybe). The paint has held up amazing as well as the countertop is solid, it just needs new end caps. Would it work with paint?
I have no info on what paint they used or how they did it either.

Normally paint doesn't adhere well to laminate long term but you said it's been previously painted so as long as the existing paint stays stuck, new paint should adhere to the old. Generally solvent based coatings will stick better than water based coatings. Water based coatings adhere well to latex/water based but generally not to oil base enamels. It would be nice to determine what currently have - http://www.doityourself.com/forum/pa...latex-oil.html pics might also be helpful - http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html
