Hello there, I was hoping to get other peoples' opinions on a possible bathroom design concept I am thinking of doing. I don't have any pictures as my digital camera stopped working, so I will try my best to describe how the bathroom is currently laid out. The bathroom is 12x12 square, in the back corner of my house. Walking into the bathroom, directly in front of you is a 40" cabinet with a full counter sink on it. Directly behind that, in it's own little room is the toilet area. There is also a door that leads out to a back sunporch above the addition at the back of the house. There are two small windows, one in the toilet room, one near the oversized jacuzzi/shower. The layout that I had planned to do, was to simply remove the toilet from the 'room', by removing the door and wall the door is shared on, and converting the wall behind the sink to a pony wall, so that the toilet remains behind the sink, but is behind a pony wall. I want to remove all the windows in the bathroom, and also the door leading to the back patio (its falling apart and unsafe to be on anyway), and converting the now open corner above the bathtub to a closet with a door. The oversized jacuzzi would come out, and be replaced with a standard sized one, and be enclosed in glass doors/sliders. Does this seem like a good layout, or would somebody suggest doing something else? According to local code, the bathroom does not need to have a window or a door, so I don't believe I am violating any codes by removing them. From an aesthetic or resale standpoint, do you all consider stainless steel appliances in a kitchen to be "necessary?" We are going to be replacing some appliances in the near future, because they're not in good shape. Range hood and dishwasher are on the short list. We're also looking at moving in the next 2 years or so. We're not "flipping," but we do want to make a sound and logical investment with the appliance purchases. My wife and I think a white dishwasher works as well as a stainless one and costs several hundred less. But every home listing I've seen plays up the stainless appliances, and so many TV shows, ads, etc. make it seem like stainless is "the only way to go." Since we hopefully won't be replacing those appliances between now and when we move -- would it be a smart investment to go with stainless? We are in an established neighborhood of older (turn of the century) homes, with some new construction infill. The new construction is usually gobbled up before the paint is dry, and even though they're about 500 sq. ft. smaller than existing homes, they've got stainless and granite. They're also brand new, and I know that has a lot of appeal on its own, but it just seems like the kitchen appliances are such a huge draw.
