Low curb on shower ok?

I am replacing my shower in my very small bathroom. Plan on using Kerdi system. I want the curb height to be as low as possible but don't want a curbless design since i am on a slab and that is just too much work. I was thinking of cutting the curb down to about an inch above the edge of the pan height. Is this an OK idea. Beside the potential for a flood if the drain became clogged what other down faults or problems would there be?

Have never had a shower flood.

If the floor has good slope toward the drain do you really even need a curb other than to control splash?

Hopefully if someone was in there showering they'd see the water rising before it went over the curb.

My wife's brother has a handicap apartment. His shower has no curb although there might be a slight lip.

OK I'm the dummy. I wasn't paying attention and a wash cloth found its way over to cover my drain. When I spotted it the water was up to the top of my 3" curb. It didn't go over but sure scared me. Add in any kids and you definitely need an overflow drain and with that you should be ok.

As a side note I like having a floor drain just in case, I know not possible or easy with a slab.
