Oven vent replace
We want to replace our existing cabinet and hood vent which was installed in 1990. We want to remove the cabinet going with a ceiling mount vent using the existing duct work which vents to the roof. It is a flat roof with no attic. I have not bought the hood/vent yet. We will be buying a 30 inch. My question is about the new vent piping attaching to the existing piping. It looks like the vent pipe is 7 inches in diameter. Does the new vent pipe slip over the old or is there an adapter? Thanks for any insight into my project.

There are different types of adapters. Some take a square and transition into a circle. There are reducers and expanders that will help you match your existing pipe. Will need to pick out your new hood and see what it recommends before fully answering your question. New pipe will not fit over the old, it will always go inside the pipe heading down stream so the air flow does not have a lip to catch on and trap dust and other particles.
