Question Butcher Block countertop protective finish?

What do people typically use for a Butcher Block countertop protective finish? Is mineral oil a good choice??

If you use mineral oil, be sure it is "food grade". Some will heat melt/mix beeswax in with the mineral oil in a sauce pan on low heat at a 1:4 ratio. 4 oz beeswax to 16 oz mineral oil. Leaves a little waxier finish that you can polish and reapply as needed.

Or you can buy a beeswax paste for butcher blocks that is already mixed for you.

I use three coats of oil based polyurethane as my go-to finish on just about all wood and a butcher block countertop would be no different.
