Shower dimensions

I've read that there needs to be 15 inches of clearance on each side of a toilet flange from the center of the flange. Does a shower curb that's 4 inches tall count. Would that curb need to start 15 inches from the center of the flange? Or could I put the shower curb as close to the toilet as I want? I might just use a shower curtain

So if I give the toilet flange 15 in from the center it leaves me 4.5in for the curb and about 24 inches for the shower pan. The code says I have to have 25 inches for the "shower compartment". Which I can come very close to.

2. Shower compartments having not less than 25 inches(635 mm) in minimum dimension measured from the finished interior dimension of the compartment provided that the shower compartment has a minimum of1,300 square inches (0.838 m2) of cross-sectional area.

My question is....when it says "shower compartment" does that include the portion of the curb inside of the glass panel?

I cannot say perhaps someone else is more familiar with this.

I would not make a shower 24 inches deep that is awful tight.
You will be banging your elbows constantly.

That doesn't include the 4.5 in wide curb. If I make the pan any wider it pushes the whole shower towards the toilet and then I don't have 15in of clearance for the toilet.

I do not know how closely you want to follow code so can only tell you how my place is set up.

I have a vanity then the toilet and then a tub.shower with doors.
Toilet center to vanity is 11" at the floor the vanity also has a 1" overhang at the top..
Toilet center to tub is 12" with the doors set back another 2".
No room for a toilet paper holder on the side of the vanity so it is on the opposite wall.

This gives me 28" from the shower wall to the shower doors not spacious but adequate.

You may want to get boxes or whatever and do a mock up so you can get a feel for the space.

The code also says "A water closet, lavatory or bidet shall not be set closer than 15 inches (381mm) from its center to any side wall, partition or vanity or closer than 30 inches (762 mm) center-to-center between adjacent fixtures"

I don't think a shower curb counts as a partition or anything else listed

I agree with you.

Lets just say my bathroom is cozy but I have never had a problem with anybody using the toilet no matter what their size.
