Prefab shower pan membrane?

I'm installing a Schluter 40x60 shower pan
i understand that all the corners and drain need to be waterproofed with thinset and membrane but it's not clear if the entire pan needs a rectangular piece of 48x60 on it as well?
I assumed it wasn't necessary since you don't on the vertical kerdi board on the walls

Have you watched all their youtube installation videos? That would be a good starting point.

Yes, but wasn't clear since sometimes they do sometimes they don't. It seems like if you use the kerdi pan then you only waterproof the edges and floor/wall points

When I did my Prova system the pan was not covered so it required membrane, I thought the Ditra systems had membrane pre installed (Pink fabric) and all you needed was to install around the edges.

But, you need to confirm with your material!
