Question Cutting backer board

How do you guys cut your cement backer board (hardie board)? According to the Internet a regular tile knife (carbide tip is recommended) does the job. Just like regular wallboard. Score and snap.
When I look at my old pieces from the bathroom job I did several years ago I see very smooth straight cuts that I did. But I did not use a carbide tip knife. For the life of me I can't figure how I did it.
But now I'm having trouble. I scored it on both sided with multiple passes and just won't snap. In this case I'm cutting a 4" wide strip.

I have a special scoring tool. It works sorta but I occasionally it doesn't snap completely along the line. I wouldn't even attempt for a 4" wide strip as it will likely break where you don't want. Most of the time, for a narrow strip, I use an old carbide tipped blade in a circular saw. Go outside and cut it because there will be clouds of very fine dust.

I typically use a grinder and diamond blade and do it outside. But I don't do it a lot.

PD, you were correct. I didn't have enough leverage to snap it off. However by putting it on the ground where my garage floor is about and inch higher than driveway, I was able to stand on it and break it clean.
Apparently I used a saw back when. I can see saw blade marks. Since I have a number of cuts to do, I guess I will buy a diamond tip blade of some kind.

I use a fiber cement saw blade for my circular saw. Be sure to wear a dust mask!
