I'm installing a corner shower base, my inside wall corner is square but my shower base is out of square a 1/4". Can I just fur my studs and run the wall out of square so my base fits tight? The outside edge is tight but my inside corner shows a 1/4" gap. .
I thought it was my wall at first then I checked the shower base with a square, sure enough the inside corner of this this base is out of square. I'll have to run furring strips on the studs and make the wall out of square with the base so my backer board is past the flange lip on the inside corner.
Also consider how that might affect your tile pattern and any accommodations you might have to make. Probably not much of a problem with a corner shower, but one with opposing walls might have an issue if a wall ended with a full tile.
Definitely would be a problem for intersecting tiles if the wall was not plumb.
When I go pick out the tile I'll make sure to measure them first so I'll have enough overhang length and not end up with a full tile. Planning on going with a longer rectangle tile not square, I believe last time I looked I found some what were about 4 inches longer than needed so I could cut the ends.
Hi. Any suggestions to solve this gap between the wall and vanity counter top? The vanity came with a backsplash, which I didn't want to use. Thinking I may have to get a separate 3" backsplash and create a side splash with it, although I hate that look, which is why I tiled to the countertop in the first place. gap seems to big to caulk, it's 1/4 inch at it's largest and tapers down to flush with the wall

. Any good ideas? Thanks.

My elderly friend bought a house recently and it's been a headache with the builder since day one. The latest thing he's telling my friend is that the holes in the corner of the bathtub are to drain water should water get behind the tiles. I'm no builder, but this sounds like complete b.s. to me. On top of that, it doesn't appear that he even sealed the grout or the area below the bottom tiles (including the corners). Is this builder blowing smoke or is there a reason to have the holes in the corners and not the bottom tiles sealed completed (across the width of the tub)? This just looks like exceptionally shoddy work to me.
