I am adding a second story to my ranch house, and placing the new bathroom mostly over the existing downstairs bathroom. I have read something about a "wet vent" and did not understand exactly what it was. I am wondering if I can use the main vertical vent from the downstairs toilet for the drain for the new upstairs toilet.
I also need to extend a gas pipe for a seperate heating system up stairs, and want to know if I can use regular black pipe and can it be joined with teflon tape. I have done lots of piping for factory compressed air systems is there anything special I should know for gas piping.
Thanks,
JDMCC.

Teflon tape is not recommended for blackpipe. Blackpipe is made for gas, but use thread seal compound and remember to check all joints for leaks.
