Question changing the color of bathroom fixtures

Is there a way to change the color of bathroom sinks and toilets without replacing them? I have heard of people painting porcelain sinks but I don't necessarily buy into the idea that it will hold up.

We have an ugly yellowish toilet and sink in our second bathroom and would like them to be white. We didn't want to take on the cost to replace them right now and are looking for an inexpensive solution.

Does anyone have any experience with this question? I have a feeling that someone is going to tell me to just buy some cheap new fixtures and be done with it........

thanks for any input or ideas.

Changing color of bath fixtures

Yellow just happens to be a popular color again. The least expensive and trouble option is to decorate around the fixtures. The most expensive would be to replace them. Painting fixtures is not a viable option from the standpoint of long-term durability because of exposure to water, minerals, and chemicals.
