Wainscoting for bathroom
#1

I am remodeling a bathroom and would like to use a board and bead wainscoting in sheets for ease of installation. I've used the 1/4" Birch from Home Dpot elsewhere in the house but I'm looking for something a little higher end and perhpas more resilient to bathroom use. I'm planning on painting it. I read about an exterior rated MDF product in This Old House Mag but they didn't give any details(like, did they route the board and bead detail or does it come that way).
Any ideas apprecieated.

If the choice is 'do you use 1/4" birch plywood or MDF in a bathroom', the plywood wins, HANDS DOWN!! Use a good primer and a quality kitchen and bath paint to finish it. The last thing I would put in a bathroom is MDF. That stuff is like a sponge!!

I've always trusted Tom Silva, but MDF in a bathroom is asinine. I put in MDF baseboard and after 3 months it was swollen- and I don't have any leaks. It's just the inevitable splash inherent in a bathroom. I replaced it with back-primed and well caulked fj pine and no problems.

Update on my search for wainscoting. Lowes apparently sells an MDF version, seems a bit odd(asinine) as mentioned by KC 76 but right on the label for the product they show it being used in a bathroom. I will research that further. I have also found a product called "ply bead' which is a 4' x 8' sheet of southern yellow pine 3/8" thick, approx. $28 per sheet. This comes with the bead spacing at roughly 1 3/4" and another version at 3". I'm heading to lumber store tommoroow to check out this product.
I'll update progess.
