Question minimum distance between toilet and vanity

I am remodelling a 4'x8' bathroom which currently has a 24" wide vanity centered on one wall. To the left of the vanity is a built in closet and on the right hand side is the toilet. The space from the right hand side of the vanity to the wall is 36". There is currently a 6" gap between the right hand edge of the vanity and the left side of the toilet tank.
We would like to put in a larger 30" vanity and put in a one peice toilet. The toilet we have picked out is slightly narrower (19" rather than 21") and according to my measurements the toilet and vanity would fit next to one another but there would only be a 1" gap between the right edge of the vanity and left edge of toilet. Is this too close for "comfort"?

Shouldn't be a problem. If you are on a wood floor, you could move the flange over a few inches to gain more space, but that would require a lot of extra work.

Sounds like

sitting in a 767 restroom to me--tight! Be advised, also, that most building codes require at least 15" clearance from the center of the toilet bowl to the nearest wall/fixture.
