Moving the toilet

Can you move the toilet accros the bath just by extending the old plumbing or do you need to put in a new vent stack.

Changing location of toilet

"Changing the location of a existing toilet requires extensive plumbing work. It is better to plan to install a new toilet in the old location, if at all possible. A toilet installation, like all other bathroom fixtures - tub, lavatory, bidet - is limited by the distance from the vent stack. When ordering a new toilet, keep in mind that the critical measurement is from the rear wall to the center of the drainpipe." Installing Toilets. 84 Lumber. Retrieved 29 May 2002.
