Talking Take your time....

I just completed the same project a month ago(Well, I painted kitchen cabinets as well). It turned out great and we're lovin' it.
First of all, you want to purchase a quality primer and paint.
It's not worth saving a few bucks going with a cheap paint.
I used Kelly Moore's with Zinsser 1-2-3 primer.
Here are the steps that I took:

1. Either sand or apply de-glosser to remove gloss from the surface; use a palm sander or a sanding block with 120 grit.

2. Wipe well with tacky cloth to remove all debris from the surface

3. Apply a primer with a good brush(It pays to use a good one)

4. Wait about 1-2 hrs and apply another coat(lightly sand in between)

5. Wait 3 hrs for primer to cure

6. Apply 1st coat of paint

7. Wait a few hrs

8. Apply 2nd coat

9. Wait 1/2 day for cure

10. If high gloss is desired, apply a high gloss top coat

*It'll be better to remove doors & drawers and do the above steps separately

Good luck!!
