Angry install bathtub HELP

I am going to install a new fiberglass one piece tub and shower unit. BUT do I need to put mortar or concrete under the tub?? there is at least a 11/2 inches of space between the tub and the floor.. please help kathy

follow the instructions with the tub - I am certain the bottom will need to be supported - in which case you should be able to use cement/motar etc. check the instructions

Talking Build a form

You can build a form around it, using 2x4's and a thin plywood and pour mortar in it. Build the walls of the form little higher than the bottom of the tub to 'over-fill' just a bit to eliminate any possible gap/voids.
Your form doesn't have to be completely water-tight since mortar mix is viscous enough not to sip through a tiny gap; but try to avoid any if you can.

After mortar cures, rip out the plywoods and 2x4's.....your mortar bed is complete.
