installing shower pan

Never installed shower pan - any help or tips would be great

what size spacers should we use when grouting slate for shower tile?

Should we glue the pan to our 1 1/2 inches of plywood subfloor?

what type of material do we use over the pan (mortor, concrete, etc.)

what are the min thickness that can be applied for slope?

For shower bench seat - I am assuming I can't fasten durock board to bench - therefore should I trowel mortor mixture to pan of bench seat then apply tiles?

Thank you, Polly

Shower Pan Info

Here are a few links that have been helpful for me in my research to install a shower pan:

Read this one first:

Lots of good photos:

Good luck!

Thanks very much for the links. I searched and found them. I'm currently doing an installation now. I've been working on it for some time now. I will only add one bit of info.

Check out a book called "Setting Tile" by Michael Byrne. Get the revised and updated version. There is a lot of good info in there to.
