replacements & storm windows ??

I'm installing some replacement windows where aluminum and storm windows are now.

Is there any reason to keep the storm windows ? If I do remove them do I need to install new weatherstripping to the exterior or can I just caulk like crazy ?

No need to use the storms if your new windows are double pane.
Storm windows are dated technology that weren't all that good to start with.

4 Foot Archway

I want to take a 4 foot wide square door opening into the kitchen and make it a archway. I have seen some archways in el paso and they used short pieces of 2x4 and then cut halfway in the drywall to shape the archway. Does anyone know where I can go to find more information on this? ThanksRead More

prices for a HUGE old window

hi all. i am wondering if someone could give me a [I]roundabout[/I] price for replacing my front window. it's 139" wide by 65" tall. it's surrounded by wood which would need to come out too, so there's no simply replacing it. i am willing to go as cheap as possible...i don't need a fancy bay window or anything. i simply mean would this be a $3,000 job or a $10,000 job...that sort of question. i don't feel like asking anyone to come out and look at it if they're going to say $10,000, which i don't have!! thanks.Read More
