Storm Door Parts

My daughter recently damaged the bottom panel of my aluminum storm door. I appears ro be only a fancy sheet of aluminum with a designed etched in. I have searched the Internet and went to the manufactures web site and can not find this part. The door function normal so I don't wish to replace the whole door..

Your thoughts???

You'll have to get this from the manufactuer of the door (which you probably will not be able to determine) or remove the existing one and go to someone who sells custom storm doors. It's easy to remove but more difficult to install. Remove the door and remove the bottom rail. The kickplate will pull out. The new one must be the EXACT dimensions. Clean out any caulk or glue and reverse the procedure. This is all eaiser said than done!!!

Window Replacement

I am needing to replace my windows in my house, but I have no experience at this. I'm pretty handy with a hammer(I have built bookshelves, aquarium stands, night stands, workbench, ect) But I am concerned on how entailed the window replacement is. I currently have wood sash windows(I don't know if this is the correct term) my house was built in the sixties and as far as I can tell, these are the originals. I am wanting to either put aluminum or vinyl windows in. My house has vinyl siding, So I want to do whatever it takes not to damage the siding. Is there a website that shows step by step instructions on how to remove and install windows? Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks KPRead More

I had a custom wooden shutter door manufactured for an interior doorway, and asked them to install a locking doorknob (keyed on one side, with a thumb lock on the other). When they came to install it, they said they couldn't put any kind of lock on it because the door is too thin -- 1-1/8" instead of the customary 1-3/8". Does anyone have any idea where I could find a lockset for a door this thin? I'm willing to sacrifice the thumb lock inside, but I need a lock with a key for the outside of the door. Any suggestions?
