Am i getting screwed?
I recently called a company out to replace a window. The window is about 40x30 low e, grided (9squares), metal frame, and is made by western products. First the guy starts muttering about how he'll have to custom make the window, and stated repeatedly that it was going to cost more because Western Products is no longer in business. He wanted to start the project right away, with no estimate, but the I had arranged with the company to get an estimate first, then come back for the repairs. It turns out that Western Products does exist, but i have no idea whether the 40x30 is a "custom" size window. I have a feeling the company is trying to screw me out of a whole bunch of money, but i'd rather make sure before i start yelling at anyone. So, is 40x30 really a custom size window? Should i expect to pay more because of this particular size?
thanks in advance

Why don't you call Western Products since you've found they are still in business and get an answer to the size and the price....or the name of a dealer near you if they won't quote price directly...which a lot won't.....
That will give you the window price, then allow some for labor and you'll have your answer...
by the way...WHY are you replacing the window.....I mean if it's metal frame and LowE glass, it can't be THAT old, so what's the problem ??

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to e-mail them later, unfortunatly their website is less than spectacular when it comes to information.
As for replacing the window, there are condensation bubbles on the inside, and i'm anal retentive.
thanks again.

You don't need to replace the window if that is all the problem....you replace the glass unit.
About any glass shop should be able to do the job. You may still want to contact the maker as the glass unit may still be under warranty......10 years is about the minimum you see them covered and goes to lifetime from there........which means THEY will furnish the unit and you pay someone so install or DIY.
