Warm weather has started to melt the snow on our patio cover and now the skylights are leaking. I've caulked and put roof coating on the skylights. The skylights are in a propanel (metal) roof. Since the skylights are over the patio and deck the leaking is not causing too much damage.

What do I need to do to stop the leaks? I'm thinking of tearing out the skylights and reinstalling them correctly so they won't leak, but I don't know what " installing them correctly" means.

Any help would be appreciated....

Thanks

Chuck

Hey Chuck:

Greetings from Houston Texas. I know how you feel because I just removed 4 skylights from my apartment building. I was frustrated and decided to add good lighting. Since this is out of doors you may just want to redo the flashing and shingles around the lights themselves. Unless you like crawling around with roofing caulk this may be you best bet if your family is attached to the skylights.

Best of Luck, Waycliff
