Question

I have a problem with my security door .. a neighbour attempted to adjust it .. but made it worse ..it is a "whitco" brand name ...and I need to know how to adjust it because it doesn't allow the door to close quietly. It makes one hell of a racket *bangs* when ever a person opens the door. I have been searching the net for an answer but no joy so i thought *bright idea* why not look for a D.I.Y. site and they may have an answer.

The proper operation of a door closer is that it will begin to swing closed slowly and when it reaches the last few inches it will close quickly to insure that the lock will engage. Security doors are made of steel and are heavy therefore you will hear a bang.

I think you mean it makes a noise when the door is closed, not when it is open. Johnam is correct. It closes quickly at the end.
