Question

I want to install new Andersen windows into the existing Andersen window (rough) openings. They were all wood (inside/out) w/stationary/awning and picture/awning combos. I just wanted to update to vinyl/wood and keep the same configurations. I thought it would be a simple transplant. Now, I'm told Anderson doesn't make those sizes or combos anymore (the windows are 42 yrs. old on a brick home). I would have to join single windows together to make a combo which would fit into a smaller window (rough) opening than what I have now. If I used a different style of window combos or a different brand (such as Martin or Pella), the same problem exists. I understand to get those exact sizes, I would have to custom ordered windows. I still want to stay w/my Andersen Windows. Any suggestions?

It's your money. If you want to put vinyl replacements in your old wood frames, then order customs.

It might be less expensive to completely replace what you have. Do your homework and then decide.

For your information, almost all vinyl replacement windows are custom ordered. that is why they are so popular. You can use your old frames and windows. I would just order custom vinyl and insert them into your Andersen frames. Good Luck
