Particle door edge

My exterior backdoor is 30" wide. A friend custom cut a beautiful door and frame to replace my old one. He used a door that is particle wood inside. I have coated the cut edge with 5 coats of varnish but would like to seal it better to prevent moisture & humidity from ruining it over the years. Any suggestions?
