I have 30+ year old aluminum single hung windows. Does anyone know where to obtain parts for the "sash" spring/screw that hold the window in the up position?

Thanks,
-Jeff

You're right -- what you have are "Bad Windows". Why would you want to repair them and still have bad windows? Why not replace them with good windows? Retrofit them with energy eficient dual pane vinyl windows and the money you save on your utility bills will pay for them in a very short time. After that, the good windows are money in the bank.

a good full service glass shop will be able to order parts from either STRYBUCKS or BLAINE. Both are window hardware specialty suppliers.

Thanks, but I should have mentioned these are not standard size windows, and I am in the process of selling my home.

So what if they aren't "standard sized windows"? When you retrofit with vinyls, thay are custom made, to order. Trust me, I could get windows to fit whatever size of an opening you need to fill, as long as they are wide enough and tall enough for the mfgr's. jigs to cut and weld them. Shape isn't a problem either, usually.
