Interior Door Frames
#1

I just bought an old house (1926) that needs lots of cosmetic work. All of the frames around the interior doors are old, gouged, nicked, crappy painted, etc...the doors don't close or are uneven. I'd like to tear off the old frames and replace with new. Where can I get information on this type of project? Can I attempt this or do I need a professional?

Are you talking about the casing (trim) or the jamb? Either is not difficult to do
Use this link to get the information you need on installing pre-hung doors http://www.morethanacarpenter.bigste...68&PRID=178990
I use a 6' level for plumbing walls and doors.

Ever consider restoring your doors/jambs? Materials in normal use in 1926 are far superior to those currently available and sadly the ratio of craftsman to consumer approaches lottery odds.Spend the money you would have spent on a new door on tools and books that will be with you long after that cardboard door has gone to the landfill.
