door hinge problem
#1

Hi,
I recently moved into a new house. One of the hinges of the bedroom door cannot be attached to the proper place in the doorway because the holes for where the screws were are worn out, so the screws will not stay in them because they are too large. Can I just fill these holes with something and screw the screws back in? If so, what would I fill the holes with? If not, what else could I do? THANKS!

Hello, There are many ways to repair the holes. I use dowels. Buy a package of
3/8" x 2" dowels cut 2 in half, drill out the old holes with a 23/64" drill put wood glue on the dowels and drive them into the hole tapered end first. Usin a 1/8" drill for a pilot hole for the screws and then remount the door. Good Luck Woodbutcher
