Installing Prehung Interior Doors

Which method of installation would you recommend? Using screws or nails? If screws, what size? How do you cover the countersunk holes? If nails, (I have a nail gun I am using for the trim) what size nails?

I use 3" screws. Countersink them, then cover the screw heads with wood putty or lightweight vinyl spackle.

On the trim. use nails that are long enough to go through the trim, the 1/2" of sheetrock, and about an inch into the stud. On the jamb side of the trim, a nail that is about 1/2" shorter.

Hello! Next month I will close on a home. The current kitchen is very small, my plans are to enclose a door and move this exit into another room. My brother who is very handy told me he would be able to do this transition. What do you think - is this very involved - replacing a window with a door? Should I consult with a contractor? I am installing a new storm door. I want to replace the existing wooden brickmolding with pvc brickmolding and secure the new storm door to the pvc brickmolding. Pvc brickmolding does not seem to be as strong as conventional wood but I am having trouble with rot on all my window and door brickmolding. Should I do this and if so what is the best way to fasten pvc brickmolding. Should I use regular finishing nails or screws. Should I drill holes in the pvc molding or treat it like wood.
