storm door

hi
the rubber sweep under my aluminum stormdoors are worn-they look like windshield wiper inserts which slide in and out but the trick is to get the right size. this condo is 15 years old and there are no names on the doors. i've been to all the door places around and to home depot etc. there is a removable metal 'cuff' that is held on with two screws but i've not been able to find that either. any ideas?
thanx

The rubber sweep is replaceable and comes in different shapes. The only place you may find it is an independent door & window store that installs storm doors. If you can't find it, Home Depot has the the type that screw on to the face of the door.

rubber sweeps

GHi Johnam
I tried BIG aluminum storm companies but none could help. I went to walmart and bought a gold sweep(rubber insert) and used the insert with my door. I had to raise the piece on the door and drill two new holes but all's well. I just find it so peculiar that you can't find an insert by itself-call around and you'll end up scratching your head. Anyway thank you for your advice and you were on the right track I could have screwed one on but could find none in black or that were easily paintable. Bye for now.

I'm glad that you solved your problem. I'm in the window & door business in the New York area and I have 3 different types of sweep inserts.

inserts

i'll keep you in mind-you should start a business in the d.c area -you'd make $ just advertising and selling inserts. i went to the gaithersburg glass co.,the silver spring storm door co, and the bethesda storm door co. among others and there were no inserts-
have a good one
