Indoor Door question

Hello,

Iam doing framing for a intereior door. After framing king stud, header and jack stud. For putting in a prehung 36'' door what should be the size of the opening. Somebody says 38.5 by 82.5.

Any help would be great.

An inch all the way around should be plenty.

An inch wider that the total width and height of the frame -- not just of the door.

38-1/2" X 82" would work jsut fine.

Hello, I have a wall to the side of the stairwell which is half finished in length. Means the wall is not finished along the end of the stairwell. This is the side opposite to the hand rail. There is not sufficient room to install studs. The gap is probably like a inch and a half. How can I fnish that portion os the wall. ThanksRead More
